Which tools do you need for tying carp rigs?

A baiting needle lets you thread the hookbait onto the hair and PVA bags onto the leader, and a bait drill makes a hole in a hard boilie or pellet. With different needle tips you can also splice leadcore and thread other materials.

Braid and hooklink materials need sharp scissors that leave a clean cut. A stripper removes the coating from coated braid precisely, and a knot puller lets you bed knots down properly and test their strength before the rig goes anywhere near the water.

A hook sharpener restores the point when the hook has touched stones or gravel. Crimp tools close crimps on heavy mono and fluorocarbon that is hard to knot, which is useful for chod rigs and other stiff presentations.

Keep your tools in their own case next to your rig box, so they always come along. Store sharp tools with their points covered to protect both the tools and your bag.
