Ready Tied Rigs

Which ready tied rig suits the way you fish?

A bottom bait rig is the basic carp rig. A boilie or pellet goes on the hair, and the rig is at home on a firm, clean bottom where the hookbait sits in plain view of feeding fish.

With pop-up and spinner rigs the hookbait floats just off the bottom. They suit lakebeds with light weed or soft silt, and on a spinner rig the hook can rotate freely and turn quickly in the fish's mouth.

Chod and zig rigs are specialist rigs. A chod rig settles on top of soft bottoms and debris, while a zig rig lets you fish in mid-water when the carp are cruising near the surface on warm days.

Solid PVA bag rigs are short and stiff so that they fit inside a PVA bag among the free offerings. The bag melts on the bottom and leaves the rig in the middle of a small pile of bait, which is hard to beat in weed or on busy waters.

Check the hook and hair before every cast and keep a few spare rigs in your box, so you can change quickly during a busy spell.
