Telescopic poles are traditional reel-less fishing poles that collapse short for transport. They suit float fishing from jetties, cottage shores and boats for perch, roach and bream.

Length is the main decision. A 3-4 m pole is easy to handle on a jetty or in a boat, while a 5-7 m pole reaches the edge of the reeds and deeper water from the bank.
Material affects weight. A carbon pole is light and stiff, so even a long one is comfortable to hold for hours. Glass or composite is tougher and suits hard use at the cottage.
The line is tied to a connector on the tip and is usually about the length of the pole. Some poles come with a ready-made float rig.
The tip is the most delicate part, so carry a spare connector and transport the pole in a protective tube.
