How to build a fishing station that works

A fishing station is built around the seat. A seatbox is the choice of match and competition anglers: its drawers hold floats, hooklengths and small items, and adjustable legs keep the seat level even on a sloping bank. A feeder chair is lighter to carry but still takes side trays and support arms, which makes it a good fit for feeder fishing and for sessions where you want to travel light.

Uneven or soft banks are part of everyday fishing. A footplate gives your feet and kit a stable base, and a larger platform can take the whole station. With the seat level and your feet planted firmly, casting and accurate feeding stay comfortable from the first cast to the last.

Side trays and bait trays keep maggots, groundbait and small items within easy reach. When your bait sits in the same place at the same height every time, rebaiting and feeding become routine, and you do not have to take your eyes off the float or the quivertip for long.

Seatbox attachments let you tailor the station to the way you fish. Extra legs, accessory blocks and support arms fix items such as a rod rest, a feeder arm, a keepnet arm or an umbrella holder to the seat, so everything has its place.

When choosing, think about how far you usually walk from the car to your peg and what kind of banks you fish most often. It is also worth checking that trays and attachments match the leg size of your seat, so the parts fit together.
