How to build your rod support with banksticks

The simplest approach is to use two banksticks per rod: one for the bite alarm and one for the butt rest. It is a lightweight solution, and the angle and direction of each rod can be set individually.

A buzz bar fits on top of one or two banksticks, and the alarms or butt rests screw into its threads. When you fish two or three rods, a buzz bar keeps them in line and speeds up setting up. In a goal post system, two banksticks and two buzz bars make the whole setup stable and tidy.

Choose the length of your banksticks to suit the bank: a long stick reaches down from a high bank and holds firm in soft ground, while a short one is handy on a low bank. Hard or stony ground usually calls for a rod pod or a stage stand.

Screw the bankstick into the ground rather than hammering it in, and the threads and the top will last much longer.
