Uncoated braid is soft and supple, so the hookbait behaves almost like a free offering on the bottom. It is used for bottom bait rigs, with PVA bags and on waters where carp are wary. The group also includes very strong snag braid.

A supple hooklink lets the bait move freely as a carp sucks it in. That makes the rig hard to detect and suits bottom baits and short rigs fished in a PVA bag.
Soft braid tangles more easily on the cast than coated material. Use an anti-tangle sleeve and attach a PVA stick or small bag to the hook, so the rig settles straight.
Breaking strains of 15 to 25 lb suit open water, while snag braid over 40 lb is for fishing tight to snags. Choose a shade that blends with the bottom. Check the hooklink after every fish, as soft braid can fray on a carp's throat teeth.
