A social shelter, gazebo or cook tent brings the shared side of camp under one roof. They suit trips with mates, matches and long sessions where cooking and kit storage should stay separate from the sleeping bivvy.
With several anglers on the bank, a shared shelter gives you somewhere to eat, plan baiting and sit out a shower without everyone squeezing into one bivvy. A cook tent keeps cooking away from the sleeping area, which is also the safer option.
Check the footprint against the number of people and whether the side panels roll up for summer and close down for rain. Wide doors make access and ventilation easier, and mozzi mesh makes evenings more pleasant.
Large shelters catch the wind, so good pegs, guy ropes and a flat pitch matter. Always use a stove with plenty of ventilation.
