Brolly or day shelter - which suits your fishing?

A classic fishing umbrella is the quickest and lightest option: pole in, brolly up and you are fishing. A tilting brolly angles into the wind, and a side cover or 360 cover turns it into an almost enclosed space.

Day shelters and brolly systems are sturdier, often with peggable skirts and a front panel. They are ideal for long days and the odd short night when you do not want to barrow a whole bivvy.

Check the diameter or width against your chair and kit, and use storm poles or guy ropes on an exposed bank.
