How to elasticate a pole top section
The elastic running through the top sections of a pole stretches as a fish lunges and protects fine line from breaking. Elastic strength is chosen to match the size of the fish, which is why many pole anglers keep several top sections rigged with different elastics.
An elastic threader pulls the elastic through the top sections quickly. A long, flexible threader passes through the sections easily, so there is no need to push the elastic through by hand.
A bush cutter trims the tip of the pole cleanly and evenly so that the bush fits properly. A precise cut matters, as a rough edge can rub against the elastic and shorten its life.
