How to tie your own coarse fishing rigs

Tying small hooks to fine line is everyday work in coarse fishing. A hook tyer makes it much easier to tie spade-end and small eyed hooks, and a knot puller tightens the knot without stretching or heating fine line. A loop tyer gives you loops of the same size at the end of every hooklength.

With bait needles you thread hard baits such as pellets and boilies onto a hair, and a bait drill makes the hole first. A needle and drill of the right size stop the bait from splitting.

Hooklength and rig tools help you make hooklengths of equal length and keep finished rigs organised. When hooklengths are tied at home and stored straight, changing rigs on the bank is quick and every one is the same.

Tying your own is worthwhile because you can choose the hook size, line diameter and hooklength to suit your own waters. It also means you always have spares ready when a fish snaps you off or a rig tangles.
