Why use a line spooler and threader?

A line spooler holds the spool of line in place and keeps the line at the right tension while you load it onto the reel. Line that is wound on evenly and firmly does not twist or bed into itself, and your casts go further. With a spooler you can change line on your own, without balancing the spool on a pencil or letting it roll across the floor.

A line threader gets fine line through the rod guides in seconds. It is especially handy when setting up on the bank in the wind or at dusk, when the guides are small and fine line keeps slipping through your fingers.

Always fill the spool to the right level: too little line shortens your cast, while an overfilled spool causes tangles. Change your line regularly, as worn line loses strength and smoothness. Load all your reels the same way, and they will behave the same when you cast.
