A spod rod is built to cast a spod packed with bait. A heavy load needs a much stiffer rod than a fishing rod, so the cast stays straight and accurate. These rods are for building a baited area from medium to long range.

A spod full of particles, pellets or chopped boilies weighs many times more than a normal carp lead. A fishing rod buckles under that load, so a spod rod usually has a test curve of 4.5 to 5.5 lb or more.
Lengths of 12 to 13 ft are most common. A large butt ring and strong guides stand up to constant wear from braid and a shock leader. The handle needs a secure grip, as you may make dozens of casts in a session.
Accuracy comes from repetition: cast at a fixed far-bank marker every time and clip the line at the reel. Your bait then builds up in a tight patch that is easy to hit with your hookbaits.
