Swingers & Weights

A swinger is an arm indicator fitted beneath the bite alarm that keeps the line under tension and shows bites in both directions. This section covers swingers, swinger kits, illuminated swingers and extra indicator weights. They suit carp fishing at long range, in wind and on flowing water.

When is a swinger a better choice than a bobbin?

A swinger is attached to the alarm, so it does not swing about in the wind like a free-hanging bobbin. That makes the swinger a strong choice at range and on rivers, where you need tight lines and a stable indicator.

Sensitivity is set by the arm length and the weight. Sliding the weight to the end of the arm adds tension, moving it closer to the pivot lets the swinger react to the smallest movement. Extra weights let you fine-tune it.

An illuminated swinger shows up in the dark and can light up with the alarm. Check that it fits your alarm and that the line clip release tension can be adjusted.
