Which chair is right for the bank?

A carp chair is low and sturdy, and each leg adjusts independently so the chair stays level on a sloping bank. Wide mud feet stop it sinking into soft ground, and the low seat keeps you close to the rods and ready to get up for a take.

A reclining chair has a backrest that tilts and often a longer seat, which makes it well suited to long waits and a daytime rest without getting the bedchair out. A guest chair is a light extra seat for a friend or a visitor, and it is easy to bring along on short trips too.

When choosing a chair, look at least at the weight, seat height and packed size. If you carry your kit a long way, a light chair is a real advantage, but on long sessions comfort often comes before weight. Try the chair before your trip so you know the seat height also works for keeping an eye on the rods.
