Long Range Carp Rods
Long range carp rods are built for swims well beyond 100 metres. A longer, stiffer blank loads fully with a heavy lead and lifts line cleanly off a big pit spool. They suit big lakes, reservoirs, gravel pits and wide rivers.

A distance rod is usually 13 ft with a 3.5 to 4 lb test curve. The extra length gives more leverage and the stiffness keeps the lead under control all the way through the cast. The heavier the lead, the stiffer the rod you need.
Butt ring size matters: a 50 mm ring lets line spill off a big pit reel with minimal friction. These rods are heavier than all-rounders, so balance them with a large reel.
Heavy leads at range always call for a shock leader to stop the main line cracking off on the cast. A stiff rod absorbs less of a lunge, so keep your drag set smooth when playing fish.
