Spod reels are built for hard work: casting a loaded spod time after time and winding it back fast. A big spool and quick retrieve save time and effort when you are putting dozens of loads onto one spot. They pair with a spod rod and braided line.

Spodding means casting and retrieving the same distance over and over, so the key figure is line retrieved per turn. The more line the reel picks up with each turn of the handle, the sooner the spod is back for refilling. A large spool also helps the spod fly further.
Spod reels are normally loaded with thin braid and a shock leader. The body, bearings and line roller must cope with heavy loads, as a full spod weighs far more than a standard carp lead.
Once you have found the distance, clip the line in the spool clip. Every spod then lands in the same spot and your bed of bait stays tight.
