This section holds light saltwater rods and bass rods for inshore lure fishing. Use them to cast plugs, jigs and metals from rocks, piers and boats for sea trout, mackerel, bass and small cod.

Pick the casting weight to match your lures. The lightest rods handle lures of around 10-30 g, while medium models take 15-60 g lures and cope better in a wind.
Length affects casting distance and lure control. A shorter rod is accurate from a boat or pier, while a longer one casts further from the shore and keeps line clear of rocks and weed.
Make sure rings and reel seat are built to resist salt water. A good light sea rod combines a sensitive tip that transmits every movement of the lure with enough backbone for a bigger fish.
Rinse the rod in fresh water after fishing so salt does not corrode the rings.
