Pellet Wagglers

The pellet waggler is a short, chunky float for fishing shallow when fish rise in the water to intercept pellets. Its heavy loading lets you cast accurately to the spot you are feeding with a catapult, making it a summer favourite on commercial fisheries.

How do you fish the pellet waggler?

The secret is regular feeding. Pinch a few pellets out with a catapult to the same spot every minute or so, and fish soon begin to expect food and rise in the water.

Set the hookbait shallow, often just 30-90cm deep. Cast slightly past the feed and draw the float back into the middle so the bait falls among the pellets.

A pellet waggler is heavier and thicker than a standard waggler, so it withstands repeated casting and aggressive takes. Bites often come the moment the bait hits the water.

Use strong line and hooklinks, as big fish take the bait hard.
