The waggler is the key float for stillwater fishing when you want to reach further out than a pole allows. In this group you will find straight and loaded wagglers as well as pellet wagglers. Use them with a rod and reel on lakes, slow-flowing rivers and commercial fisheries.
A waggler is attached to the line by its bottom end only, so the line can be sunk below the surface and wind or surface drift will not pull the float off line. A straight waggler is sensitive and shows even shy bites, and all of its shotting goes on the line.
In a loaded waggler, part of the weight is built into the body of the float, so you need less shot on the line. The float casts further and more accurately, and the bait falls slowly and naturally through the water.
A pellet waggler is a short, stubby float for fishing pellets in the upper layers. It is used at commercial fisheries when the fish come up in the water to feed on pellets.
Choose the carrying capacity to suit casting distance and wind: longer casts and windy days need a heavier float. After casting, sink the line by dipping the rod tip under the surface and winding back a few turns.
