Bolognese Rods
Bolognese rods are 4-8 m telescopic rods for float fishing with a reel. They come into their own on rivers and in flowing swims, trotting a float downstream for ide, chub, roach and bream.

A bolognese rod combines the length of a pole with the reach of a running line. The long rod keeps line off the water, so you can hold back and steer the float and let the bait trip naturally along the bottom.
Pick a length to suit the swim. A 5-6 m rod is a versatile all-rounder, while 7-8 m is needed from high banks or jetties over deep water.
Casting weights usually run up to 15-25 g, enough for heavier river floats. The longer the rod, the more lightness and stiffness matter, so the strike reaches the hook.
Pair a bolognese rod with a small fixed-spool reel and 0.12-0.16 mm mono.
