Pellets are staple baits for method and feeder fishing. In this group you will find feed and micro pellets for building a swim, along with wafters, hook pellets and mini boilies to use on the hook. That way you can pick up both the feed and a matching hookbait from the same group.
Feed and micro pellets are small, oily pellets that break down in the water and release an attractive scent. Micro pellets are often mixed into groundbait or used on their own in a method feeder once they have been dampened to bind together.
On the hook, you want a harder or buoyant bait. Hook pellets are usually fished in a pellet band or on a hair. A wafter is a critically balanced bait that sinks slowly and rests lightly on the bottom, so a fish can suck it in with ease. Mini boilies are a good choice for bigger fish such as bream and carp.
Match the size and colour of your hookbait to your feed pellets. When the fish are feeding confidently, a bait of the same colour works well, and when bites dry up, a brighter wafter can stand out better on the bottom and bring a response.
Keep your pellets dry and sealed between sessions so they keep their scent and texture.
