Liquids and additives let you adjust the smell, taste and texture of your groundbait and hookbaits. In this group you will find flavours and liquid attractors as well as powder additives. With them, one base groundbait can be adapted to different waters and conditions.
Flavours and liquid attractors are usually added to the water you use to mix your groundbait, so the scent spreads evenly through the whole mix. Pellets and hookbaits can also be dipped just before casting, helping the bait stand out in the swim.
Powder additives are stirred into dry groundbait before you add water. They change the colour, binding or breakdown speed of the mix, making it firmer for running water or lighter when you want a cloud near the surface.
Start with a small amount. Too strong a smell can put fish off, especially in cold water. In summer, when fish feed more actively, sweeter and stronger flavours often work better, while in winter a more subtle approach usually brings more bites.
Make a note of the combinations that work on your waters. When the same groundbait, flavour and additive keep producing fish, take them along next time too and change only one thing at a time.
