Saltwater Braids

Saltwater braids are woven main lines built to stand up to salt water and hard use. The group includes 4 to 13-strand lines in a range of diameters and spool lengths, plus metered multi-colour lines for jigging. They suit vertical jigging, pirking, casting and squid fishing.

How to choose braid for sea fishing

Braid has almost no stretch, so the jig's action and every bite reach your hand from hundreds of metres down. A thin line also cuts through the tide, letting a lighter jig hold bottom.

The number of strands affects the finish: 8 to 13-strand braid is round and slick, adding distance and running quietly through the guides. 4-strand braid is coarser but stands up well to abrasion.

For jigging, choose multi-colour braid that changes colour every ten metres so you can read your depth.

Always add a fluorocarbon or mono leader, as braid will not survive sharp rocks or teeth.
