A method feeder is an effective way to present the hookbait right in the middle of a pile of feed. Flat or hybrid method feeder?

A flat method feeder always lands on the bottom with the loaded side facing up, so the hookbait sits in plain view on top of the feed. A short hooklength keeps the hookbait right next to the pile, and fish often hook themselves as they feed.

A hybrid feeder sits between a method feeder and a cage feeder. It holds more groundbait or pellets and flies steadily on the cast, even at longer range.

A method feeder mould presses groundbait or pellets tightly and evenly around the feeder. When every cast is loaded the same way, your swim stays tight and the feed breaks down in the same way each time, which keeps the fish competing in one spot.

Choose the feeder weight to suit casting distance and your rod. A light feeder suits short range and soft bottoms, while a heavier one is for longer casts and windy days. Carrying two or three weights lets you react quickly when conditions change.
