A cage feeder is an open mesh feeder that releases groundbait quickly. It is ideal for building a swim at the start of a session and whenever you want to draw fish in fast, especially when fish are feeding hard.
A window feeder has a more closed body with openings, so the groundbait breaks out a little more slowly and the feeder flies more steadily on the cast. It is a good all-round pattern for many situations.
An open end feeder is filled with maggots, casters, seeds or pellets and plugged at both ends with groundbait. The contents stay inside until the feeder reaches the bottom and only break out there, so the hookbait and the feed end up in the same place.
Choose the size by how much bait you want to put in with each cast. A large feeder builds the swim quickly, while a smaller one keeps the fish there without overfeeding them.
