Separate net head and handle, or a complete net?

Coarse anglers often prefer a separate net head and handle. That way you can switch heads to suit the swim and the species: a small, shallow head works for roach and small fish, while a large, deep head suits bream, tench and carp.

The length of the handle decides how far you can reach. A telescopic handle is easy to carry, and a long handle helps when you fish from a high jetty, a steep bank or from behind reeds. A light, stiff handle is easy to use with one hand while you play the fish with the other.

A complete landing net is a good choice when you want a tool that is always ready. It suits fishing at the lake and occasional sessions.

Choose a fish-friendly mesh: soft, fine mesh protects the fish and stops hooks from snagging. Dry your net after each session, and it will last longer and stay free of smells.
