Cool bag or cool box: which suits your trip?

A soft cool bag is light and packs into a small space, ideal for food, drinks and bait on a day trip. A backpack version leaves your hands free for the walk to the shore.

A hard cool box holds the cold for longer, takes knocks and doubles as a seat on the boat. A large box takes your catch packed in ice, and a drain plug makes it easy to let meltwater out. Wheels and a pull handle help with a heavy box.

Choose the capacity for how you fish, and remember that ice and ice packs need room too.

Pre-chill the box and keep it in the shade to make the cold last.
