Insulated Fish Bags & Tuna Bags

Fish taste best when they are chilled straight after landing. This section covers soft-sided insulated fish bags and cool bags that hold your catch and ice through a day's fishing, along with long bags for big sea fish taken trolling or big game fishing.

What to look for in an insulated fish bag

Length comes first. The bag needs to take the biggest fish you expect lying straight, as a bent fish chills poorly and loses quality. Tuna bags are the longest and often have handles for two people to carry.

Insulation thickness decides how long the ice lasts. Thick foam and a well-sealed zip keep the cold in all day, even in strong sun.

Look at the lining and drainage as well. A seamless, washable lining and a drain valve make it easy to get rid of meltwater and blood.

Load the bag with ice or ice packs before you start fishing and cover each fish in ice as soon as you can.
