Leica PRS 5-30x56i PRB FDE is a first focal plane riflescope for precision shooting and long-range applications. The broad 5-30x magnification range, 56 mm objective lens and PRB reticle create a combination that is particularly well suited for PRS shooting as well as other forms of long-range precision shooting. The FDE Edition differs from the black PRS model with its darker FDE-265 finish and matching Tenebraex lens caps.
The PRB reticle is located in the first focal plane, so the reticle remains proportional to the target as magnification is changed. This allows the reticle's measuring and holdover markings to be used throughout the entire 5-30x magnification range without separate recalculation. The design is especially useful in PRS shooting, where shooting distances, target sizes and the required magnification can change quickly during a stage.
According to Leica, the optics provide more than 90 percent light transmission. The 56 mm objective lens, AquaDura lens coating and high-quality optical system are designed to provide strong contrast, clarity and sharpness even in challenging lighting conditions. Exit pupil diameter varies from 9-2 mm depending on magnification.
The field of view at 100 metres is approximately 8.2 metres at 5x magnification and 1.3 metres at 30x magnification. Eye relief is more than 90 mm. The diopter adjustment range is -3...+1 dpt, allowing the eyepiece focus to be adjusted to the user's eyesight.
Parallax adjustment ranges from 20 metres to infinity. This makes it possible to bring the target image and reticle onto the same optical plane at different shooting distances, which is particularly important at high magnification and in precision shooting.
Elevation and windage adjustments are in milliradians. One click equals 0.1 Mil, or 1 cm / 100 m. The manufacturer specifies a total elevation adjustment range of 32 Mil and a windage adjustment range of 19 Mil. The clear turret layout and white markings on the FDE body make settings easy to read and adjustments easy to make when shooting distances change quickly.
The illuminated PRB reticle has 10 brightness levels. Illumination is controlled from the side of the scope and is powered by a CR2032 battery. The illumination switches off automatically after four hours to reduce unnecessary battery consumption.
The FDE Edition features Leica's FDE-265 Tactical Finish. It is a darker Flat Dark Earth tone complemented by high-contrast white scale and adjustment markings. The included Tenebraex FDE flip-up lens caps are matched to the colour scheme of the scope, creating a consistent package straight out of the box.
The riflescope body is made of aluminium. Overall length is 365 mm and weight is 1030 g. The PRS construction and large 56 mm objective are designed primarily for precision shooting, where adjustment range, magnification range and reticle functionality are more important than minimum size or low weight.
In addition to the PRS 5-30x56i PRB FDE riflescope, the package includes a throw lever and FDE-coloured Tenebraex flip-up lens caps. A CR2032 battery, lens cleaning cloth, quick start guide and Leica sticker are also included.
