Pahtagorva, Phatakorva, Pahtakorva – pick your spelling. In any case, we’re talking about one of the most effective Nordic salmon flies for both Baltic salmon and Northern Norway. Phatakorva’s merits include being voted the best fly on the legendary Alta river and being considered part of the “holy trinity” of Swedish salmon rivers along with Den Vanliga and Banana Fly. In any river that carries even the slightest brownish tint, it is hard to find a more important fly than Phatakorva. This one comes tied on a copper tube for added weight.
