Saxa Shade Pike 8'2'' 40-120g rod is based on Saxa's super popular original Shade rod. It is specifically designed for the Nordic pike shad fishing that has gained popularity in recent years. When fishing with soft large rubber lures, the rod requires more length than jerk rods to achieve proper casting distances. A good shad rod must also be sturdy enough to cast lures over a hundred grams effortlessly. There are many pike rods on the market for casting heavy lures, but sometimes these rods are so heavy themselves that fishing comfort suffers. Saxa Shade rods are equipped with genuine and original Japanese Fuji reel seats. The high-quality 40-ton carbon fiber rod blank is adorned with Fuji rod guides, and the handle material is durable and marine-grade EVA foam. The EVA handle is dense and long-lasting, yet lightweight. The lightweight two-piece handle also does not stiffen the rod blank's action from the base, allowing it to bend freely.
Saxa Shade -rod design focuses primarily on versatility, comfort, and lightness. For this reason, no compromises have been made on the rod, and it is equipped with the lightest and most delicate rod guides possible. The two lowest guides are delicate three-legged Fujis, and the rest are very delicate single-legged. With these lightweight guides, the rod, and especially the rod tip, is not overly burdened by the weight of the guides, resulting in a very fast and accurate casting action. For the same reason, the rod does not need to be made super stiff and heavy to cast heavy lures. One secret of the Saxa Shade rod is its meticulously designed blank. To achieve lightness and fast action, the top two-thirds of the rod is coated with a thin matte lacquer. Thus, the mass added by the lacquer does not overly burden the rod during casting, and the desired action of the rod is maintained. The bottom third is coated with a thicker glossy lacquer to protect the rod in rod holders or when hanging a lure on it. Additionally, the bottom part of the rod is protected and reinforced with a cross-woven fiber wrap.
