Rapala Countdown 5cm 5g - Sinking at a consistent rate of one foot per second, the CountDown allows you to easily target specific depths repeatedly. Whether the fish are suspended, at the weed tops or holding on bottom structure, the CountDown can get you to them consistently. Trolled or cast, this weighted balsa lure swims with a slow-rolling Rapala action. Outfitted with VMC black nickel hooks, each lure is hand-tuned and tank-tested to swim perfectly right out of the box.
The countdown technique, named after the CountDown lure: on the first cast, let the CountDown sink to the bottom while counting the seconds (the CountDown sinks about 30 cm per second). If you want the lure to swim close to the bottom on the second cast, count one or two seconds less than on the first cast before you start retrieving. By reducing the sinking seconds, you get the CountDown to swim closer to the surface. This way you can cover the different water layers within one casting sector.
Using the countdown technique, you can fish effectively and precisely. This is a particular advantage in heavily fished spots, because most anglers just cast in different directions while the lure always swims at the same depth. This gives the angler who masters the countdown technique a good chance of success! You can also stop the retrieve for a moment and let the CountDown sink, which can provoke fish in the middle layers into striking. The CountDown is also known as a good river lure, because it withstands even strong current and casts a long way.
All Rapala lures reach anglers around the world through the Vääksy factory in Finland, which also houses the product development department. The heart of Rapala is in Vääksy!
