Vector Optics HEIM ES X-Nano XPD Wi-Fi is an unusually compact thermal sight designed to bring thermal observation into a package closer in size to a miniature red dot than a conventional thermal optic. At 51 x 43 x 46 mm and 123 g, it adds relatively little bulk to a compatible setup. The mounting interface is VOD, compatible with the Aimpoint ACRO footprint, which makes compatibility with bases and adapters easier to assess before installation. The X-Nano is intended primarily for rapid thermal detection at short and medium distances: its wide view, small dimensions and fast image refresh are more central to the design than high optical magnification.
Thermal imaging is based on a sensor with a resolution of 256 x 192 pixels, 12 µm pixel pitch and 50 Hz frame rate. The unit itself has a 1.4-inch touchscreen and six thermal palettes: White Hot, Black Hot, Hot Iron, Rainbow, Iron Red and Cold Color. Hot Spot Tracking provides real-time detection and marking of the hottest area in the image. The sight also offers 10 reticle options in black, white, red, green and yellow. For field use, the manufacturer specifies 1000 G shock resistance and IP66 protection, with an operating range of -20...+60 °C. Power comes from a replaceable 16280 battery rated at 900 mAh, with a manufacturer-stated runtime of about 3.5 hours per battery.
