Gerber Suspension is a multi-tool that has achieved classic status, tested through years of hard use. Suspension's reputation is based on excellent usability, durability and versatility, and it has found its place in the toolboxes of hikers, professional users and home handymen alike.
The tool opens classically with a butterfly mechanism, whereby both handle halves fold to the sides and bring the spring-loaded pliers quickly into use. The spring-loaded pliers make working considerably easier, as the grip can be released without having to actively open the handles with fingers.
In addition to the pliers, you have 12 tools that lock in place at your disposal, covering a wide range of tasks. Three different plier functions – needle-nose, standard and cutting pliers – handle all kinds of gripping, bending and cutting work from wire to cable. The plain and serrated knives adapt to different cutting tasks: the plain blade handles precision work, and the serrated blade bites effectively into rope and other tough materials. The saw enables cutting smaller branches and pieces of wood.
Three screwdrivers – Phillips, medium flathead and small flathead – cover the most common screw types needed in the household and on outings. A can opener, bottle opener and scissors round out the package.
A locking mechanism keeps the tools securely in place during use, so there is no fear of the tool accidentally folding in the middle of work. The frame is full-size but still lightweight – nothing has been compromised in terms of leverage or handiness in the design, and the tool can also be used confidently for heavier tasks.
A storage case is included, which keeps the tool clean and intact when not in use. Open, the tool measures 15.2 cm and folded 8.9 cm. Weight is 255 grams.
