The 6.5-20x magnification range and 52 mm objective emphasize precise target identification and hunting in more open terrain and at longer shooting distances.
The BDX-R1 Digital Ballistic Reticle works together with the SIG SAUER BDX system. A ballistic profile is created in the SIG BDX app, after which a BDX-compatible KILO rangefinder can send the measured distance and calculated correction directly to the scope via Bluetooth. An illuminated point in the reticle shows the calculated aiming point.
The Sierra3BDX digital focal plane solution takes changes in magnification into account even though the physical reticle is in the second focal plane. According to the manufacturer, BDX-R1 can provide hunting holdover solutions out to 800 yards, and compatible Applied Ballistics solutions can extend the operating range of the system.
The optics use HD glass and SpectraCoat coatings. A 30 mm main tube, side parallax adjustment and the included throw lever make the scope easier to operate. LevelPlex helps detect rifle cant, while KinETHIC can indicate when calculated impact energy falls below a threshold selected by the user.
The construction is IPX7 waterproof and fog-proof. Because of its larger 52 mm objective and 20x top-end magnification, this model is clearly more precision-oriented than the Sierra3BDX 4.5-14x44, while its primary role remains hunting and use of the BDX system.
