The 4.5-14x magnification range and 44 mm objective make this Sierra3BDX version a versatile choice for hunting when a reasonably compact optic and the ability to make more precise shots at longer distances are both required.
The BDX-R1 Digital Ballistic Reticle can display illuminated elevation and wind corrections when the scope is connected by Bluetooth to a BDX-compatible SIG SAUER KILO rangefinder. The ballistic profile is configured in the SIG BDX app. Once the distance is measured with the KILO rangefinder, the calculated correction is sent to the scope and the correct aiming point illuminates in the reticle.
The reticle is in the second focal plane, but SIG's digital BDX solution takes the selected magnification into account. The manufacturer states that the BDX-R1 system can provide hunting ballistic solutions out to as much as 800 yards depending on system settings and the overall configuration.
Sierra3BDX uses HD glass and SpectraCoat anti-reflection coatings. The 30 mm main tube, side parallax adjustment and LevelPlex digital cant indicator support practical field use. With the KinETHIC function, the user can define a desired impact-energy threshold in the ballistic profile.
According to the manufacturer, the construction is IPX7 waterproof and fog-proof. A blue BDX indicator light shows the connection to the KILO rangefinder and indicates when new ballistic information has been received by the reticle.
