When you lift the fish onto the measuring board, it doesn't slide off thanks to the edges but stays in place during measuring and photographing. There is a handle hole at the end of the measuring board, making it easy to move along the side of the boat. The material is durable and modifiable aluminum, so you can easily attach the measuring board permanently to the boat or create attachment points for stauffs if you want to attach the measuring board to the railing.
