Rapala Rippin Rap in Kalastajan Kanava colors, set 2 for murky water, includes three differently colored Rippin’ Rap lures, each 5 cm long and weighing 9 grams. The Rippin' Rap is well-known for its effectiveness in summer perch fishing. Jyri, seeking innovation, inquired about adding a transparent body to the lure. Promptly, Jari from Rapala contacted their product development team, and it was indeed feasible.
Rapala Rippin Rap Kalastajan Kanava lure colors as instructed by Jyri:
PNKD (Pink Dreams), transparent body, pink back, pearl white sides with silver scales visible through.
FNTC (Fanta Cola), transparent body, cola-colored back with copper scales, sides and belly are fluorescent yellow.
DRTB (Dirty Boxers), transparent body, pale grey back, "dirty white" sides, and warm orange belly.
The Rippin’ Rap is a high-sided, coin-like, lipless lure, easy to use and versatile for fishing perch, pike, and zander. It vibrates when retrieved, producing a loud rattling noise due to its internal beads, with a strong swimming motion felt even on the rod handle.
In casting, the lipless and quickly sinking design allows for rapid exploration of fishing areas both horizontally and vertically. The lure can be retrieved faster in shallow water or allowed to sink slowly in deeper areas. Starting the retrieve as soon as the Rippin' Rap hits the water surface enables surface fishing. For targeting zander or pike, it's advisable to upsize the rear hook. The Rippin’ Rap might discover excellent new fishing spots while moving through the water from one spot to another.
In trolling, the variety of fish caught with Rippin’ Rap extends from perch and pike to salmonids. Its place in motor trolling is next to or below the propeller stream. Rowing anglers achieve varying success with different rowing speeds.
Ice fishers can also use this lure. The "Ripper" rattles and vibrates strongly in an up-and-down motion, attracting both perch and pike. Especially in North America, this lure is a favorite among ice fishers.
