Rippin' Rap has been exceptionally good for summer perch fishing for years. Jyri, seeking innovation, inquired if Rapala could introduce a transparent body to the lure. Jari from Rapala immediately contacted their product development, and indeed, it was possible.

The Rippin’ Rap is a high-sided, coin-like, lipless lure. Easy to use and versatile for fishing perch, and also suitable for pike and zander. The lure vibrates during retrieval, making loud rattling noises due to its rattling beads. Its strong swimming motion can be felt even at the rod’s handle.
In casting, the lipless and fast-sinking design allows for quick exploration of fishing areas both in width and depth. The lure can be reeled in faster in shallow waters and allowed to sink slowly in deeper areas. If retrieval starts as soon as the Rippin' Rap hits the water surface, it can fish near the surface. If targeting zander or pike, consider upsizing the rear hook. Rippin' Rap can uncover excellent new fishing spots as it is moved through the water from one spot to another.
In trolling, the range of fish species caught with Rippin’ Rap expands from perch and pike to salmonids. In motor trolling, Rippin’ Rap works best beside or below the propeller stream. Rowing anglers achieve varied success with different rowing speeds.
Ice fishers can also use this lure. The "Ripper" rattles and vibrates strongly in an up-and-down motion, attracting both perch and pike. Especially in North America, this lure is popular among ice fishers.
