Bow hunting is a challenging and silent form of hunting

The popularity of bow hunting has steadily increased in Finland in recent years. A hunting arrow is effective throughout its flight and usually penetrates completely through the prey regardless of its size, leading to a death as quick and ethical as that caused by a moose rifle bullet.

If a bow is used to shoot European beaver, Canadian beaver, roe deer, fallow deer, red deer, sika deer, white-tailed deer, forest reindeer, mouflon, or wild boar, the arrow must be equipped with a cutting tip with a diameter of at least 22 millimeters. If a bow is used to shoot European beaver or Canadian beaver, the arrow must also be attached to the bow with a line.

Bow hunting requires completing a hunting license, having hunting rights in the area, and when hunting ungulates (roe deer, fallow deer, red deer, sika deer, white-tailed deer, forest reindeer, mouflon, or wild boar) with a bow, only those who have passed a shooting test may act as shooters. No permits are required for the bow itself.
