Whiting Spey Cape Bronze Grade necks feature feathers specifically bred for tying Spey flies. These feathers have very long barbs, which create a long and lively hackle for Spey flies. The feathers closely resemble the hard-to-obtain heron feathers traditionally used for Spey fly hackling.

Whiting Spey Cape Bronze Grade also provides lively hackling for various shrimp patterns, the most famous of which is probably the sea trout fly Pattegrisen. Even traditional salmon flies like the General Practitioner can be made into very lively versions by replacing the traditional rooster hackling with Whiting's Spey hackles.

Whiting Spey Cape Bronze Grade necks have more feathers and longer hackle barbs than the Pro Grade necks.
